Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

About eight years ago I started hanging out quite a bit with a large group of people that I met through my former workplace. I did a lot of things with them, weekends, holidays. Then, back in 2017, I was on the invite list for a big Christmas party, and was considering going. I was so happy as I thought that it was great that I had gotten to know everyone well enough that I was invited to the big Christmas party. One day the Facebook invite disappeared. I figured it was called off. It wasn't. I was uninvited. Day after the party, I saw everyone who I thought were my friends on social media all partying together. I was totally shocked. I hung out with these people practically every weekend for like a year. I talked about it with some other people, and my other friends said that they were fake, etc, and to drop them immediately. My good friend who connected me to this group called me after this happened, we went to brunch and he explained there was some kind of big fight or something. He didn't come right out and say it, but I think he felt bad someone kicked me off the invite list. We didn't talk more about it. He continued to invite me to events but I kept staying away I was so offended. I felt clearly, I was being ostracized so stay away. From about 2018 on I moved on with my life and away from them. I stayed friends with him, though, and we still hang out.
This past year I've gotten slowly back involved with them as he started reintegrating me. I've had time to thaw out, I was pretty angry. He started inviting me back just like old times. People were happy to see me over the summer. I was there on Labor Day, Memorial Day. It was so nice. I think I was ready to let it go. Now, here we are at Halloween, and the big annual party is coming up. They are talking about it all over social media, it’s going on tonight. I used to join them in the past. Am I invited? No. I really don't get it. When I got back with them this summer, people acted like they really missed me and were glad to have me back. By all rights I think I should have dropped them completely. Some of my other friends called them, "fake friends." To a point I have to agree. Not understanding why I'm not good enough to be invited to the major event. It makes me mad and makes me think that people are full of crap and fake like my other friends said.
I had thought of having a party with them for my upcoming graduation, and reciprocating and having everyone to my house, but now I don't think so. I was on the fence about it because of what happened in the past. My feeling is that if I am being excluded like this-again- then there are people talking about me when I'm not there. It makes me uncomfortable and I don't like it. One of the women there is really rude to me. I have other social circles where people don’t seem so shallow. Also one guy there is way too fixated on me and obsessed and it makes me uncomfortable. I did mention this to my friend who was understanding. If that's the reason I'm left out so be it. So ridiculous. Maybe some people are right, that they are "fake friends."

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

f these fools.....they can be what taylor says Haters got Hate Hate Hate....
It does seem like hurt people want to hurt people. Still trying to figure that one out.
I think for me it would come down to who's hosting the party..... It's up to them who they want to invite
I wouldn't lump all of these people together where it comes down to a party...... I think it comes down to who is hosting it
The other people are simply invited at least that's my take unless there's more to it??
Another hug sweetie.... xo
