Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I am not new to depression. Been dealing with it most of my life, especially after I was sexually manipulated by some neighbor boys. One of which is a close family friend. Then I had more and more issues stemming from that including food adictions. Now I am trying to deal with my medical issues that may or maynot include MS. Not easy to explain but....
I live with my husband but he doesn't have a good understanding of what I go through with the depression and such. I get a "suck it up" attitude. I also feel that I don't have anyone I can relate.to. I don't have any where to turn.
I am basically just looking to talk to people going through a similar experience and at least to try to feel included in something.
I hope I can be here for others as well.
Im an oldie but goody. Been a member sense Aug '07. I recognize many people, people who have been friends & helped me get thru alot of bullshit. Im much better than i have been in the past but going thru a bad time right now.
Love to all
Cathy ~~yes my real name~~
I came here because I was in an abusive marriage and suffering from major depression and anxiety. The wonderful people here helped me to see that my marriage was abusive and helped me through the divorce process. After my divorce I went back to college in hopes that I could get a job to support myself and my 2 boys. I also went through intensive abuse counseling after my divorce. Then one day I met this wonderful man that I am now engaged to and will marry this July. I graduate from college this June with an Associates for Medical Insurance Specialist. I have been on the Dean's list or Presidential list every quarter. I worked hard and it paid off! Hope it helps me get an externship and then a job!
My life has come full circle and with all the studying, caring for my boys and finally being able to have a life I have not had the time to come to this site much.
I'm definitely a newbie, although my visits and posts have been very sporadic. I attribute this to the facts that I don't really know what I'm doing here yet, I just bought a new computer and completely neglected to put in a wi-fi networking card (eventually I'll fix that), and using a public/shared computer just feels weird when you're allowing your heart and mind to explode all over the keyboard.
I have no idea why that's relevant, but there you are. I have a tendency to type endlessly once I get going, so please forgive my walls-of-text.
I'm not using my real name, or connecting any sort of accounts. Mostly because my extended family has proven to be a bunch of nosy jerks, but also because I think some of my friends would be offended that I wasn't talking to *them* about my problems. We all have our quirks, and liking my anonymity is one of mine.
I'm often kept awake at night worrying about everything. At least it seems like everything, in retrospect. The realization that I'm worrying about a dozen different things I can't do anything about leads to getting really bummed out. I hesitate to use the term "depressed" because I haven't been clinically diagnosed, and I don't want to accidentally misuse the word. However, I feel it fits best because I haven't been able to find anything at all that I'm passionate about, I can't motivate myself to do anything, the idea of suicide has been running through my mind more often, I find myself very irritable a lot of the time (although I don't know if that has anything to do with depression), and my anxiety generally only comes out at night to keep me up. I've been feeling very, very isolated recently, which isn't helped by the fact that I only have a couple of close friends and we've been at odds more often lately. At least I'm feeling like less of a total headcase since I started counseling.
Here I'm just trying to find some connections again. It looks like I might be moving around a bit (hoping to switch to a different college within the next year or so), and it occurred to me that making friends who already know how to communicate via the internet might be a better plan than making nice with the strange kids in the student center. I'll probably just lurk and journal until I get really comfortable, but I am not at all opposed to speaking when spoken to.
Love and luck,
Karina
I am iamreallyagem. I am a newbie. I am pretty shy. I dont post much, but I do read the posts others write.
I want to thank everyone for the support they have given me. I hope that I can help someone feel better too.
Really battling depression ~ diagnosed with dysthymia a little over two years ago; supplemented depression meds with the lovely bottle and resulting crash/burn was not pretty...
My kids live 3,000 miles away from me and I miss them terribly; I'm married but incredibly lonely and isolated - basically a room mate with second hubby of 10 years.
I would like to hear from someone who has PTSD that isn't service-related - just life experience-related... I guess I'm searching for solutions to this darkness...
Thanks everyone.
