Hi friends (and people who are not yet friends). I'm Lessthangolden, formerly Glasspeople, and I've been around for a while now. I guess... do I qualify as an oldie now? I come and go, sometimes I go through phases where I just lurk.

I've got some issues, like all of us do here, but I'm working on them. It's a slow process.

Hi! I am a newbie so I'll introduce myself. I am 24 years old and due to be married this June. I have two dogs who are my world. I am currently working as an STNA at a home health agency and am pursing my degree online for Business Administration in Human Resources. I enjoy reading and writing, fitness and nutrition, cooking and being adventureous in nature. On the surface most perceive me as an upbeat friendly person, but when they notice my dark side they typically bail.
I hate talking about my childhood because I feel like I am complaining about nothing, but it has shaped who I am. My parents got married when my mom got pregnant and divorced shortly after. My mom and grandma used me in twisted games to get back at my dad for whatever wrong they think he did. Both parents remarried early in my life and I was forced to live to very different lives. I was physically, emotionally, and sexually abused by various people. I have always had a huge imagination and spend most of my happy days in a dreamland. In highschool I decided to fight the demons that trap me and achieve something for myself. I achieved so much, got so many scholarships and awards. But as soon as I got to college I cracked under pressure and bailed. Now I have a hard time with every day life and seem to be constantly fighting invisible forces.
Sorry that was long and drawn out, but this who I am. I ditched facebook and joined daily strength, hoping to find some good friends.
It is nice to hear about your grandsons! I bet they are adorable and very active! I have been blessed with an amazing nephew this year and he is just the cutest ever. I have baby fever bad, but know I can't have kids until I am better. :)

I'm Annie, although that's not my real name. I've learned the hard way not to post my real name on sites like this. I share it rarely, when I have gotten close to someone and feel comfortable. I suffer from depression, and have since my 20's. I worked for ten years as an EMT, before my health and finances decreed that I stop. I hope to get my certification back sometime this year. I got a dog to keep me company, but I"ve spent so much time in the hospital that my folks have her now. She's so spoiled that when dad buys filet mignon, he buys three. So not only does she get her own filet, she begs off them. She's a rotten dog and I wouldn't have it any other way. I live alone, and I miss having person-to-person contact. The TV and radio just don't work for me.

I guess that's it. Who's next?

Hi, Im kelly, Fought depression for a long time. Had it under control really well, until my son had a terrible accident, was in a coma 3 weeks with TBI. At first i held up good, but after we got him home my depression and anxiety and ptsd started kicking in horribly. Getting better, I think.Other issues I wont go into right now, I am more of a private person.

I'm newish to this board, but not DS. I've been on DS since 2008. I'm 35, but I've had depression off and on since I was 12. I've been married a little over a year and have 2 step boys.

I'm Pepper, and have been here for several years. Procrastination is the daemon that depression sends to drag me down.

I'm also one of the user moderators here. DS calls us CLs (short for community leaders, strange name but its their ballgame!) If anybody has questions please feel free to ask me or the other CLs on duty here: WanderingVet or Beth36.

We learned a long time ago that one of the biggest helps we all get is the social network here. NO, not the dating thing. It is a friends having fun sort of thing!

I am ZaZas because my first grandsons name is ZaZa. Inow have 3 grandchildren,...2 girls and one boy and they are my heart. I am here because during a major depression episode when I was planning on killing myself, I found DS on the computer by accident. I am retired and on SSDI after 30 years of working at various places. I suffer from, bi polar, major depression, extreme anxiety, and PTSD and other physical illness. I take a boat load of medicine to control it and come to DS. It helps me. I hope you find the peace that I have found here at DS.

I'm new and my name's Jenny. I'm 22. I've suffered from depression through my teens which has come back twice as bad recently.
I signed up to DS today as........ well I just hate my life at the moment and who knows, maybe this will be a good thing. No harm trying?

Hello people! Boy, am I glad to see some friendly faces! I have really been struggling lately with loneliness and a lack of support in my real life. I literally have no friends any longer and my boyfriend is always working. Things have been rough recently with normal financial/job stresses. I work for a non-profit agency which gives services to ppl with developmental disabilities. I'm in a long term relationship with the guy who I think I'll probably marry. (We've been together on and off for 8 years! On for the last 3) We have a 10 month old Bagle. (No not the kind from the bakery!) He's a Beagle/Basset Hound mix. He's crazy and actually humping my arm right now! His name is Gus. I'm 28 years old, from Connecticut and I suffer a variety of disorders and syndromes - most of which are mental. I've been living with these problems since I was 16. Hmm, not sure what more to say here. Any questions will happily be answered though! Add me to your IM if you'd like to chat sometime!

Hi. I'm new. I have been on ds since december though. I was just diagnosed with depression a couple weeks ago. I started seeing a therapist and taking celexa last week. This was all triggered when I lost my son on november 1st. He was stillborn and was delivered on his due date. He was our 1st child. I'm having a horrible time trying to deal with everything. We r completely broke and barely hanging on. I had a horrible day today. I got puked on by a patient (I'm a cma) when I attempted to get a strep test. Then I find out that my husbands car didn't pass inspection and it is going to be easier to trade it in but we don't have the credit for that. Then I find out that my sister is probably pregnant. She was sent for bloodwork and those results will be back tomorrow. I just want to lay in bed and cry til I fall asleep. I hate my life horribly right now. Sorry so long just needed to vent today.

Hi, I'm Doug, and I'm a DSaholic. Sorry, I thinks I'm a little bipolar along with what brings me here. I get stupid sometimes and my mind likes to find humor in things around me. But much of the time I am depressed. I am here from life long depression, and I guess I can admit it for the first time, PTSD, and bereavement and assorted loss issues. I don't hang much, but when I do, I don't shut up. Probably why I don't have any friends, along with trust issues.
