My family is really screwedup and my hands are tied! My older brother is 52 and my nephew, his son, 26. My parents are in their mid 70's. My brother went to prison at 25 for cocaine possession. He has lived with them every since he got out of prison. My brother is also addicted to powerful opiates (Oxymorphone and Oxycontin. Well my nephew started hanging around with my brother at about age 16, well, the only way my brother to get him to like him, got him addicted to the same shit! My brother has entered the psychosis stage and literally thinks like a twelve year old! My nephew has turned into a little thieving thug! He also has a 4 year old he relies on everyone else to care for. My mom has Parkinson's disease and my dad is OCD. My nephew threatens my mom about seeing the baby, he is also very rude to her. I have had several fights with him over the way he treats my parents. Between my brother, nephew, and dad,she is being mentally abused all of the time. I can't talk her into moving and nobody has theguts to evict both of them! She just says, if I kick him out he will use Cora (4 year old) against me! I'm fed up with all of it! Is there anything I can do? Shooting them is not an option. Lol. I see my counselor tomorrow, this is really working on my depression and OCD. I'm about ready to check into the mental hospital just to get a break from it all! I am trying to take care of my mom and I have 2 degenerates constantly wanting something from her. I just bought all of her handicap equipment and installed them to help her with balance, soon my constant job will be to stay with and help her throughout the day. Nobody else is going to do it, which I expected! I need to take out the trash, but can't do it without one of my parent's signatures.
Yes ... but it will be very very challenging and difficult.
Report nephew to child services. He is an unfit Father. Report nephew to police .. he is breaking the law.
Report Brother to the parole board or police. He is breaking the law.
Take custody of your great niece or someone else suitable. She is in danger.
Check out the possibilities of getting a power of attorney over your parents where you can decide and arrange what is best for them.

Otherwise .... you could walk away ... entirely. There are legal issues, moral issues, family issues. Very complicated .. but there are solutions.
He needs to sort his life out. Hopefully head to Narcotics Anonymous; I don't believe jail is the answer.
Talk to a lawyer! Make sure that YOU are protected.
WV has some great things to say, and I do believe that social services needs to be called to protect your mother and the young child. But many calls to social services start a sequence of events that are no longer under your control. You need to be ready to step up and be part of those sequence of events when the ones that are important to you come up.
Thank you for updating us! Reporting what you saw to your counselor was brilliant! They know who to call. Hopefully you are able to monitor things and make sure that your niece is well taken care of.
