Six police officers were shot and one was killed while serving a search warrant in Ogden, Utah, police said.

All six were rushed to hospitals after the shooting, said Ogden Assistant Police Chief Marcy Korgenski. The suspect in the case also was wounded and taken to a hospital.

Ogden city officer Jared Francom died from his wounds, Ogden police said early Thursday.

"Agent Francom has served the citizens of Ogden city with honor for seven years," authorities said in a statement Thursday. "He is survived by his wife and two young children


This happened last night in Utah.. All over fucking drugs.. Serving a search warrant.. The last remaining five police officers are in serious to critical condition. The shooter is in stable condition... It breaks my heart..All over fucking loser drugs... Thanks for letting me rant..

That is just so damn sad and senseless. Stuff like this brings out the vigilante in me. Okay drake some deep breaths. My prayers go out to the families and the community of Ogden. It really hits home since my town just recently suffrered such a tragic and senseless loss. You"re good people beastie. (((( Hugs ))))

You are right. Normally I never would have read this from your perspective.

But seriously? Why did they storm the house etc over simple marijuana? It doesn't make sense.

The only thing that makes sense is Utah? Does Utah have such strict laws even over someone smoking or growing pot that they would surround the house and storm it?

It also makes sense that the shooter had PTSD from the military.

Our soldiers are coming home and not being treated..

Gidget, I think they'll treat that in prison. Sadly that's the only place some states have for these disturbed individuals. I have a problem with the self medicating part of this story. This is very common and it needs more attention payed to it. If this guy had gotten the help he needed, possibly this tragedy could have been avoided. I know in my state there is a lot of room for improvement. More (((( prayers )))

And you're right. This could have been prevented if he had been properly treated instead of self medicating.
