Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
It sounds like you need to talk to your Psychiatrist about your medication therapy, changing things, trying new things. something to help you be a little more motivated to try. Sleeping all day isn't helping you, your going to have to fight this and keep yourself up and going against the Depression. Sometimes you have to take it an hour at a time, sometimes a day at a time. What your Therapist did was not right, I would schedule an appointment and talk with her about how her blowing you off made you feel. That relationship has to be kept honest and real, and that's on both sides. If she does something to make you upset you need to let her know. Unless there was a very, very good emergent reason, she needs to keep her responsibility to you. If she's doing this often it may be time to look for a new Therapist.
2018 has barely started, it's only 17 days old. There is plenty of time for it to turn around and be a better year for you. It seems like you would benefit from a better or adjusted medication regimen and perhaps a more frequent dedicated Therapy session.
I agree with OldCPer. It is one thing to help a new friend with the 'easy' problems of daily life. But suicidal thoughts and depression are not 'easy'. I find it better to go softly on the depression stuff until I really know a person. Even then, learn their natural limits and stay within them.
I find that saying things like "it is hard to find motivation to live" is much less scary to other people than "I'm suicidal".
Therapy is very important to us depressed people. We need to find our triggers and learn how to manage them. Medication may or may not be necessary. Our doctors can only force us into a program if we present as a danger to ourself or others.
