i feel like I’ve had it my whole life. Some days, I feel okay, but I always go back to feeling down. I don’t want to go anywhere or do anything. I go to work bc I have to.
I just want to know the secret to happiness. I want to feel alive instead of empty.

You have to start with being excited about the little things in life. I get excited about my mornings, when I have coffee and journal on my computer and listen to great music. I get excited when I walk into the gym. It's such a good feeling. I get excited that I have been doing so well in losing weight and becoming healthier. I am excited to see my cat and observe his beauty. What can you get excited about? A favorite meal, a walk outside, a sunny day? Others are suggesting medication. I take the generic form of Zoloft for my OCD but it is an anti-depressant. You have to start somewhere. Life as you know it is not working.

If medication doesn't help maybe Spravado will. I start Monday for treatments. It's different and supposed to be a permanent fix. It's now covered by Medicaid. I'm also reading a book on how to make better decisions with my life called Decisive by Chip Heath

I feel the same as you. I don't know if it ever really goes away. In my case, it hasn't. I think some people are prone to melancholy as a personality trait. Maybe best not to set your expectations too high but just try to do the best you can.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
