Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Couple of months ago, I was in the hospital being seen for a searing pain in my lower left quadrant of my abdomen. While there I started having severe swelling, and pain in my right arm. I found out I had a DVT in my right arm. Well the docs put me on 15mg of Xarelto for 3weeks then had me bump it to 20mg after that. At the beginning of this month, I had a spinal tap. Have been having issues ever since, and the docs won't consider that I might have another dvt, but only in my leg and left arm. My family believe everything the docs tell them, but I know there is an issue. My BP is out of whack, my bp even after being active 76/60, my pulse is close to 100. But the docs all say there is nothing wrong. I did research about all anticoagulants and dvt/pe is still possible, but nooo nothing is wrong with me. I've asked for ultrasounds of my legs and left arm and they all say no because it is impossible for me to have a dvt/pe blood clot while on the highest dose of Xarelto. I feel hopeless and that my doctors and family don't care whether I live or die.
I need help because no one will listen to me, and no one cares about my feelings.
I don't know what to do????

After work, I am taking a defensive driver course today. It is online and only cost $10 and it may save me as much as $300 on my car insurance. I got the information from my car insurance company. Little known fact about me is that I drive with two feet.

One day in August many years ago, the strings to our hearts were woven together in a magical and sacred way. They remained tied together though they were taken on a journey fraught with challengingdemons serpents and deep wounds. But still, they stayed tied together. They were torn apart and like a wound that leaves a scarthey cannot heal. They are broken. Ripped, callously slashed. The heart...

I mean when I have to go to the Drs or the hospital, my aunt who has to take me because I have seizures so can't drive. She flips out on me, like I'm inconveniencing her in some way. I mean she lives in My house and drives my car. There's days I want to go to bed and never wake up, but then I remember that I have a precious angel in the form of my daughter. But even she and her friend push me to my stress limit, and my aunt doesn't do anything until i go silent, which means I've gone into a seizure.
If your PCP won't help you could always go to a totally different ER and not tell them about the Xarelto......
I've found multiple counts of People developing new Clots, DVT's and PE's after being put on Xarelto, so it is possible.to do. You may have to keep fighting with your Dr.'s or find a new Dr. to get this checked.
Ask friends who they see, find out if any of them has a doctor who listens to them when they present the results of their own research.
Perhaps find a doctor who specializes in DVT, she/he may be more willing to listen to you
On the flip side, be open to listen to them. Ask them why they think you don't have DVT.
Sorry you are going through this.
Gentle hugs
If I want to try a different hospital, I will either have to go to AGH in Pittsburgh, or one of the Famous UPMC hospitals in Pittsburgh.
Thank you to all that helped me. I appreciated it.
Don't mean to be mean ...just saying your doctors are much more qualified in this matter than you are. OF COURSE, you are free to get 2nd opinions.
I feel like a pest contacting the GI doctor but honestly it has had
such a negative impact on my quality of life, it is adding to my depression.
I don't trust many doctors. Some that I've had are fabulous and supportive as well as competent, but medicine is "fast" these days with no time for listening and following up. I am so frustrated. I agree with WV that sometimes you have to try to follow instructions but if things don't improve you have a right to advocate for yourself. As a patient you can feel so small. I wish you the best and keep looking for answers. I hope that you get admitted so that they can really do a work up.
