Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I can't believe this has gone on this long. So I don't have much hope of getting a tech job, but I saw an educational job that I thought might be really good. It would have been working at a university supporting high school students who are taking college classes. I did a mock interview with a friend and prepared extensively. It was at the university that I graduated from. I was very excited about it. When I was invited to the interview they told me how competitive it was and then I did even more preparation, and the interview went well.
They said that they would get back to me the following day. I don't know if it has been the depression or what, but I needed to fill out this week's unemployment work search, I wanted to just chill and do it tomorrow, I also wanted to avoid looking at my email, I had this bad feeling this morning that it was going to be a rejection email, I had this cold feeling. I told myself not to put off filling out the work search requirement this week so I opened my email and of course there it was 'thank you for your interest' I was rejected for the job. This was the fourth one now that I have been rejected for this month. I interviewed for a student services counselor role, an online high school teacher role, one to work with younger children, just rejected from all of them. And none of them are in tech. I just don't understand any of it. I was crying. I felt like I just should have kept napping and taking it easy, that there was no reason to put myself through this. I really think it would have been a good thing. I just dont' understand it.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I'm sorry that things aren't working out as you hoped
I'm wondering if you put the school that gave you a hard time as a place to call for a reference?
If so I'd maybe take them off? Perhaps?
I hope that you'll find a good position really soon..
Prayers sent...xo
I keep reading that these employers get something like 100's of online applications and then weed out with using the algorithm of key words.
But here you have gotten interviews! That is really quite fabulous. No, they didn't hire you but they felt good enough to interview you. This tells me something good about you as I usually don't even get an interview.
See this as only a maybe and you are merely scoping them out in an interview. You are showing them how you can do their job, showing them how you can solve their problem, but you are also checking out this job. I know you feel desperate which I always did when looking for a job. But planning, hoping, wishing, they will call back is not good for our emotional wellness. Keep applying for new jobs even after a good interview.
It is a crazy job market now and yes, I have been reading that the tech industry is slowly crashing. Just keep thinking outside the box. Pen to paper, let your mind write out any ideas that come even if you would say no to them. Just an exercise to help you think outside the box.
