I've been dealing with depression since I was probably 12 or so, I'm 26 now. Within this past year I've been to an out patient program and my old meds stopped working so we've been working on getting on something that'll work for me. My depression has been really hard to fight this year and I lost my mom suddenly a month ago. Some days I do ok and others.....not so much.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. It's all right to feel the grief right now, and it's also great that you're seeing a professional to try to get your meds situated. Getting through grief is a process, but I do want to encourage you that the degree of it will lesson over time. And someday it'll just hurt less.....
I'm no stranger to dealing with depression. Experienced it since I was young. It kind of took a backseat while I was raising my children, but hit me hard when they were teenagers and then I went through a divorce. I went to support groups..... saw a therapist some....I would say that my decision to follow a spiritual path is the thing that helped me more than anything else. Now, a decade later, I am not depressed very often and in fact, experience joy a lot.... But it took a lot of inner healing work.... lol
Do you have other family and friends for a support network? I always feel that making meaningful connections with others can be helpful in managing depressive symptoms. Because the reality is that feeling lonely or alone can be very depressing. As I'm sure you know.
I want you to know that you're not alone and that there are some of us here that will encourage you and hold space for you at this time in your life. My Hope Is that you can find peace no matter what's going on in your life.
You're a good soul. A beautiful soul. That depression.... those negative emotions...they are not the "real" you. I don't know what your life has been like....but I do know you are worthy.... worthy of unconditional love from yourself and others.... and you matter. I repeat: YOU MATTER! ;)
I'm not sure if this is making sense, but I just wanted to reach out.
I've been meaning to get a tattoo that is a constant reminder that there's always hope but I haven't gotten it yet
