Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Question: Can you pull it together long enough to give him 20 minutes of interaction/play twice a day? If not that...then 10 minutes once a day?
One of the things that I think makes parenting the hardest, is that there are some expectations out there to be the perfect parent "stimulating" our kids with organic foods and classical music.
My kids may have gotten that...once? for about 10 minutes? in their lives?
Some days if they're fed, alive, and the house hasn't burnt down...it's a win.
If you think that is a possibility, talk to your doctor and seek an evaluation and treatment plan.
Depression is treatable.
Good luck with yours.
Yes, that is a sinking and and empty feeling for a mom to have. I have felt t hat before too. I learned that I had to take time to be still and focus on what is true and real. Take time spend time with your son enjoying each other. Playing a game or catch, having a milkshake/ hot chocolate together. Playing, washing dishes, baking cookies, picking up toys...together. Make your time together enjoyable, do not nit-pick. It's okay, if things are not perfectly done. Developing relationships take time, work, support and encouragement from others too. Do you have any family and/or friends who can help you and your son? Parenting is not made to do alone. Bless you and your son!
