You notice from these threads. The few arguing the most obvious don't like me. The others are not even no where near being a strong presence on this board for helping or asking for help. Or making people laugh. THERE HAVE BEEN DAYS I HAVE BEEN IN TEARS AND PEOPLE HERE HAVE LITERALLY MADE ME LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think that the joke and stuff like that is good it gets our mind off problems at least for a min and some time that is all it takes to make a persons day go from bad to ok .

I agree with that...Alot of times when I come to the depression board I see posts about things other than depression and it makes me not wanna post. How are people who really need help supposed to get it if the boards are full of trivial shit?

that is what friends are for when all else fails. I have seen funny posts bump other posts right off the board and i have seen one suicide threat after another bump another suicide threat off the charts so where does it end and where does it all begin blahblahlahblah

that could have been done differently, if money was to be donated, it should have been done privately among friends, and a tracking system put up so you could be SURE the money went for what it was used for.

I'm sure there are places that can help you in your hometown, I have been homeless with a child before.

DS is not a donation site, it is a depression board, and it is for your own protection that this kind of stuff isn't allowed.

People forget that this is the internet, and especially on a website that has vulnerable people on it, one could be so easily duped. It has happened on here before.

It has nothing to do with you personally, it's just not appropriate, and maybe, once everyone gets there "rebellion" out of their system and relax, they will see what it really is about.

Don't tell me people haven't been duped on here before, please.

In about a month, I will have been a member of DS for a year. I was here before all these categories and as much as I don't like them, I know exactly why they felt the need to do it. Back then, they were being bombarded with complaints from members that:

1. thought suicidal threads were too "depressing" for the boards

2. thought threads with jokes and other fun things like "parties" were disrespectful to the depressed people because those threads got more attention

There may be more that I'm not remembering right now but the people who complained all those months are the ones to blame for this...not the DS staff. Doug, Jesse and the others are simply responding to the complaints and trying to make everyone happy by separating these subjects. I had jokes that I wanted to share yesterday and I did...on the appropriate board. And like PowerOut said...this site is free for crying out loud...the people that are complaining would do well to remember that. At least the DS staff is trying to solve problems...at least they talk to us...any other self help site I've ever been on charges a huge amount of money to access ALL the services and they have rules that all the complaining in the world would not change cuz they don't care to listen. Be grateful for this place instead of bashing it all the time.

and Hiareth12 your right they cannot condone public funding things even though most of us know it is legitamate between friends that trust each other. And it's great, carry on. But don't expect to be able to do it in public on forums :]

Have I made a mistake in becoming a DS member?

It's very simple...If you don't need help with a problem or if you're not thinking of hurting yourself then don't post anything. There are people on here who really need help and posts about jokes or other trivial stuff keep people who need help overlooked. How would you feel if you really needed help one day and you make a post, only for that post to be overlooked by celebrity gossip and other media? There are other websites for crap like that and it's not DS. Who dosen't agree?

is this a support gruop or a battle of ego's? I see a lot of meddling folk here who want their ideas to be hte ones that have to be adhered to. They are not the ones who aer helping here. They just bwant to stir up truoble to make themselves look important. They pick at evryhting so nothing get done.

I agree with DS is doing 100%. I deleted my membership for awhile from the depression group because of the hostility and all the pathetic immature behaviors. I got on this site and I FELT WORSE...MUCH MUCH WORSE!!! "Grown-ups" were acting like a bunch of SPOILED kids in a playground with no teacher/principal around. Individuals were attacking other individuals then it escalated to cliques against other cliques then it became a free for all war. DS created and own this site, you play by their rules. You do not like their rules then leave or start your own website. This ENTIRE FREE site is fantastic and much needed out there. For allot of people this is their lifeline because they can't afford treatment or do not have insurance or have absolutely no one to support/understand them. I like the way it is now - peaceful and therapeutic.
