I found a new therapist that specializes in trauma and I had a consult with her and I think it went pretty well. She has a lot of experience. The one that I was going to just seemed really confused and like she didn't know how to help me, but then she was an intern.
It's hard to make a change and adjustment, but I think I did the right thing.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

I hope that this therapist is going to be able to help you with lasting results. I have tried so many therapists in the past but none really seemed to help. Maybe I just really have bad luck finding a good match for me but I have also been thinking that maybe I should seek out a therapist who specializes in trauma and undergo trauma specific therapy too. I grew up in a house with an angry and very critical father. I'm not going to go into specifics because I don't know the nature of your trauma and I don't want to upset you. I remember being afraid most of the time and just trying to keep my head down, be a good girl and not cause any trouble. I was often a very sad child. There are also good chunks of my childhood where I just can't remember anything from those years. I went on to develop severe endometriosis, eating disorders, Fibromyalgia and now a terribly turbulent menopause. From what I have read about trauma (because there is so much information out there now about it) I feel like maybe I have suffered childhood trauma but I'm not sure. How do you know if you've been traumatized? Wouldn't I know? If I have, maybe trauma therapy could be the kind of therapy I need to get better and the reason why therapy just hasn't really done anything for me in the past. I certainly hope you get what you need to live better from this new therapist. I think you are brave and wish you the best.
