I dont know if any of you on here have had one, but i have in the last two weeks that i have been on DS recieved two chain letters to pass on. The latest one i recieved today threatened that if i didnt pass it on i would recieve 16 years bad luck. Up until this i have been feeling so much better since talking to my DS friends and now i just feel sick and wish i had never heard of this site. Eleven years of hell i have had and this is what i mean when i say that everytime i start to feel better someone kicks me hard. I have had this chain letter broken by a friend but it has hurt me big time. I thought this site was to bring people together to help each other. I have met so many lovely people who have become invaluable to me and my life before DS was non existant and i would hate to leave because of this and have deleted the person that sent it to me as a friend. I loved her too bits to and we really seemed to connect. Maybe i was right the first time, good friends dont exist. I am gutted. I hate chain letters.

Well, in my opinion you should complain to DS and they should do something about tracing who started it and take measures against it - cause it's considered a threat against your person..

Cause just imagine if you started a chain letter like this one and passed it around:

"Dailystrenght.com is currently authoring the transmission of chain letters on its site which threatens its trusting members with years of torment and tragic events. They will not do anything about it.
Pass this letter to ALL friends on your list, or soon DS will make your information and secrets available to everyone in your city within 16 days!! You have been warned!"

See how this would be cruel to them as a business? well it's what has just been done to you as an individual..

Sometimes people on both ends of the mailbox can be overly sensitive. I almost never, ever forwarded something unless it was "just that funny". But once I did and I was shocked to get an angry letter back from a friend (no, it wasn't a chain letter) about how infuriated she was that I dared forward anything to her. I was really hurt and embarrassed because I had no way of knowing something so minor to me would set someone off. I haven't forwarded a single thing since.

I can't believe such a big deal was made of a "chain letter." Maybe my lack of understanding is because I'm not superstitious in the least. I break a mirror and don't go into a panic that I'll have 7 years of bad luck. A black cat crosses my path, and I try to pet it if it will let me. I think people might want to give everyone around them a break. If you don't want to partake in the fun someone is offering, don't partake. Why turn it into a "MAJOR CRISIS?" Just my opinion, no offense intended to anyone.

I happen to know one of the girls who sent one today, thinking nothing of it, just a fun little thing to do, and someone jumped her case and she is so sensitive and hurt by this, I don't know if she will stay or not now. She was a supper sweet person!

Thank you for all your replys to this discussion. Im sorry if i dont think chain letter are a bit of fun, but to me, they may as well just say, 'here have some bad luck'. I do understand that the person that sent it to me may be really upset now and i know she wasnt the instigator. I just dont think they are appropriate on this site. I do have a sense of humour (honest). Just not for that crap. You can ask any of my DS friends an they will tell you i am completely nuts but this just upset me. My intention was not to upset anyone, i hate doing that.

Just to say i have had deeply moving apologies from my friend about these chain letters. We have both been severely upset by them. We are now (hopefully) good friends again. She is the sweetest person and it just goes to prove that these letters do hurt people. Some people see them as a bit of fun, some just delete them, but some of us are deeply upset about them. Thank you for all of your positive comments and advice. Hopefully Kathy and i have recified this and will be seeking advice on DS for a long time to come. I love you KathyX

You're right to speak out against it. Like I said, I've never had a nasty one on DS, and those have no place here.
Sometimes people need to get upset with each other, go away and be upset, then come back and be better friends with a deeper understanding of eachother. I hope it works out for you, and that harmful chain letters become a thing of the past here.

I have a feeling this may be true, if so, I have 14 years to go since I always shitcan these type of messages LOL

Seriously though, every once in a blue moon if I get a "friends survey" type deal I will fill it out and send it back to the person who sent it to me, but that's about it.
