can't get worse?

So Christmas was a total disaster, having to leave the house due to a huge fight...and then I log in to find out that my employer didn't pay me. I have no check protection left in case something bounces. I had been looking for a job for six months, finally I think I got one, and now they are not paying me. I am in a real panic. I don't think that the money is coming tomorrow and there is nothing I can do about it over the weekend. I am supposed to work this weekend to prepare for monday, but I can't buy the groceries I need and won't be able to drive to work without gas. I won't even have lunch to make for next week. Why does it seem like my life is an endless spiral. I don't want to envision the worst case scenario, but I don't have a good feeling about this at all. According to labor laws, they are supposed to pay you the day before a holiday if your payday falls on a holiday. Da****!! Something tells me I am going to be looking for another job, again. I feel like I've been screwed.

Do you have a credit card that you can use for the groceries and the gas, just to tide you over for now? Or someone you can borrow the money from?

so if you just started with that employer they usually hold first check for a week or so after the pay period.....I dunno if that is what happened but when the pay period ends they hold the first paycheck maybe 2 weeks.....to give it to you after you have begun working in new pay period.....it sucks I know ....struggles with money depress me way too much to even say I hope it gets better....it just sucks!

Yeah I have a credit card; one of them has been run up. Don't have much more left on the credit card. Hope this gets resolved soon.

Too bad the police don't have a division for handling cases where employer don't pay employee's.

have you contacted work? It's possible the clerk didn't push the right button.

Give them a call and see what can be done. It's not normal.

Oh - and call the bank too, and see what overdraft you can get.

There is no problem in the World that can be sorted out by credit. Going into my overdraft last week has made me realise just how chaotic my money is.

First, see if you can borrow money and then pay them back when you have the check protection. Or maybe offer something for cash. Anything, just don't revert to unsecured credit.
