Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I know youve probably heard this before but Your still young. When you least expect it your *Mr Right* will show up. Ive told this story before but here it is again ~~
I divorced in '86. I wasnt looking for anybody, i didnt have time. I was busy being mom & dad to 2 kids (4 & 5 at the time) I was room mom, team mom for little league. I didnt date, wasnt looking either. Then i started going to college & working there. I saw a guy who also worked for the college. During registration i had a student give this man a note that said *its about time you started doing something instead of just standing there looking good* That was on a Wednesday. Friday Aug 14, '92 was our 1st date. Oct '92 i was pg. We were married Nov 15, '92. This year will be 18 years. We are still in love, we dont fight (argue sometimes).
My point being, he is out there. There is someone purrfect for each & everyone of us.
Love ya & go out & have fun
Cathy
Mine is a combo of fear of rejection (hm wonder y...) along with social anxiety. Also, I do have high but not unreasonable standards. Being in a relationship is an emotionally involved (draining but not in a negative way), and giving that to just anybody doesn't make sense to me. I'm not a person who can just detach emotionally, either... so its intense. Intense good, or intense bad... all or nothing.
You know the grass isn't always greener on the other side, everyone has problems, blah blah blah....
But... I don't want to be single anymore either :/ I still feel like he's out there. Somewhere. Soon. haha
In the meantime, it does help to find ways to help other people and try and be more social.
I'm 27 and have NEVER had a bf before.
I'm not that good looking but definitely not ugly.
I understand how you feel.
*sigh*

Well, most of you actually...
That's the problem with trying to express how I feel - people ALWAYS misunderstand.... they think I'm desperately seeking mate and/or spawn... or they think I'm down on myself because I'm single... or whatever.... neither of which are remotely the case....
I'm perfectly happy with the idea of not having kiddo's til my 40s to be honest... and I'm perfectly content with the idea of never getting married....... BUT what I am not perfectly content with is the never seeming to find guys I'm interested in either at the right time, or that are interested in me..
I have had a lot of my guy friends tell me that the reason I don't *seem* to attract a lot of guys is because I have an air of confidence about me that men find intimidating... and that the fact that I can talk like one of the guys, and have fun like one of the guys also intimidates them.... because guys are so used to women having low self esteem - it's not that they're attracted to low self esteem... it's that it's so much the norm that confident women scare the daylights out of them.....
Best of luck to you in your future..
I have been SINGLE for all but a grand total of 6 months of my life
ugly people are appreciative...
lol
Yep. I'm also really frustrated with some other women out there in the dating world.... letting themselves be used and abused. Yeah, its not always a picnic being single, but that doesn't mean you should be with someone who treats you badly.
To IhMan... Do you generally approach/ask out women, or do they approach you? I ask this because I don't feel especially needy or overly insecure (ok, a little insecure), and I prefer to be approached by someone who is interested in me, not vice versa. Confidence is attractive. Maybe the needy route is more effective, though. lol
