i took it for 8 weeks and it did nothing for me but there were no negative side effects either. i switched to effexor. it is true that you should not take antidepressants if you are pregnant because they simpley do not know what effect it may have on the baby. if you are planning to have a child, consult your doctor about how long you need to be off it before trying to conceive. it does leave your body after a while. something you took years ago cannot affect a baby, thats just ludicrous.

thank you! i do want kids when im older and stuff but i dont want to be the cause of problems if there are any..u know? soo it wont happen? like lets say i go on meds for a year and have a kid in 10 will my kid not be affected?

I took lexapro last summerfor 2 months.It made me numb which isnt exactly what i wanted,kind of like i stopped caring about everything.also my stomach felt horrible
About 13 years ago i took effexor for 2 years .i found out I was pregnant after taking it for 2 years and became pregnant while on it.I stopped the med due to pregnancy.Had my son ,then another son a year later.They are 13 and 14 now and are honor-roll smarty pants with no signs of distress or emotional problems other than the fact they are typical teens trying to drive me nuts with the typical stuff.i don't think the meds will hurt your future children...

I am on Lexapro and it seems to work quite well without any side effects.
