Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I am taking a mental health day, I started therapy, again finally as it's taken me three months to find another therapist! For some reason a few hours after the session I had a crashout. Different from my typical low lows where I feel nothing but heaviness, sadness and no energy.
My student loan is now coming due, I had a year and a half to find a job and never did!!! Believe me I was looking. I'm facing the fact at this point that my chosen career path is not viable. There is no good reason to not find a job after over a year of hustling, networking and applying.
I got a text asking me if I was interested in setting up an interview to learn how to build a career selling insurance. This does not motivate me or interest me in the slightest. The interview is in a couple of hours, and they want to meet early but I am not ready because I was going over questions/answers and I need to get dressed and get the area set up for the video interview.
Fact is that I really don't want to do this, but if someone offers me a job at this point I'm going to take it. Insurance sales is completely out of left field, but so what. I know when I graduated with my B.A in English/Journalism I had a pretty hard time finding a job then, too, I remember about a year out of graduation taking a job working at a call center, which was a total dead end, and I did it for a year and a half. It was from there that I got into teaching. I can't believe that I am doing this today, but here we go...summer is coming and there is almost no work in schools. I'm thinking down the road maybe I can get a COMP TIA Certificate, I heard some really good things about that. I can't believe this is where a master's degree got me.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

The career selling insurance is total sales. Not an hourly position. Can be a good job but these texts and ads are fake or scammers. They are all over NextDoor and will hire "anyone" who responds but it is commission based and I think a real scam. Because the big insurance companies want people with college degrees.
I hate cold calling which is what those jobs are. I hate being on the phone. In the Great Recession I had to take a job as a Receptionist in a legal office even though I was a paralegal, had training. Nothing else could be found. It was horrible, I was treated horribly, they thought the receptionist was just a financial drain and could be screwed over. I applied for so many other jobs. I didn't realize that by taking that job at that legal firm, I was screwing myself because no other attorney would hire me and face anger from this awful attorneys I worked for. Sigh.
Keep trying. Look at hospitals in the career section. See if anything fits. Even leaving off your master's degree might help. Use the key words in the job description and change your resume to use those key words. You know how applicant tracking algorithms work.
