Alone and lonely

I left my hometown over two years ago and moved to NM for a job.  I knew nobody here and now my family is 1600 miles away.  Since I work, I can't just go home anytime I want to.  In this process, I have become extremely lonely, even when I do things with new friends, I come home feeling depressed.  I have never lived alone before and this experience has been excruciating.

Is it worth it to stay for the job? Life is about balance....perhaps being back home with family and friends, loved ones who make life full and happier with a different job might be something to think about.

There are always new jobs and the material stuff....well its not like you can take it with you, happiness can be a more important currency.

Go home for a holiday. Plan it for some annual leave. It helps you to adjust.

Napoleon apparently sent soldiers home from the army for homesickness. It was seen as a genuine malady.

My son lived in Europe for 4 years and in lived in two other states for a couple of years. It was most difficult having him live so far away from us. We visited once or twice a week on Skype. I think It was the only way I could cope with him being so far away. It was like visiting in the same room. Now Facetime is available. When it is possible for you to take a vacation, return home and see if you want to consider moving back home. Finding activities such as tennis or anything you like to do would get you out and you could make new friends. Sorry you are feeling so lonely. Wishing you the best.
