Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Ok, so that said I also believe that addiction is a disease- not what you are addicted to - I also think a bad habit is not the same as having the disease of addiction. But it's also not my place to decide for anyone if they have a bad habit or if they are an addict- that is only for the person to decide themselves.
That said knowing that you have an addictive personality and struggle with gambling- I'm not so sure that vegas is such a bright idea (not only because of the gambling but also because of the huge pressure to drink). Seems like asking for more trouble than it's worth- but that s not for me to decide.
I will say that i find directing my addictive tendencies in positive directions is helpful as I work through the route of that issues I have. I'm not perfect at it but once I identify a behavior of mine as a destructive addictive behavior I make a point of stopping and not doing that behavior- as well as staying away from the issues that prompted the destructive behavior.
Well that s my two cents anyway...
I have no idea what causes it, and I expect I'll never completely prevent it. I gave up smoking pot (daily, at work, etc) when I found coke. I gave up coke when I ran out of money and friends. I gave up smoking when I couldn't breathe anymore, then almost died from a lung disease. I think once you gain a toehold, you have to turn away and not look back.
Good job on 3 months.

its like people who have fast metabolisms, they can gourge on food, and look like they had not gained a pound. people like me, have to constantly work at getting or maintaining a slim/thin/skinny/skronny, because we jus weren't given the metabolism like "x,"
then there is depression, some people get it, some people don't.
No, years ago I thought I did. Then I learned it was perfectly normal for men in their 20's and 30's and 90's to be pigs. These days I'm just lucky to find the time to.
So, seriously, I've got an addictive personality. I can get addicted to things if I'm not paying attention. Moderation and balance, I think, are key.
