Addictive personality disorder (APD) can be defined as a condition wherein an individual is susceptible to addiction. This may include drug abuse, addiction to alcohol, pornography and certain activities, such as gambling and video games. An individual is considered to be at the risk of developing such addictions when he/she exudes aggression, anxiety, depression or lack of self-control and does not know how to manage his/her emotions.
A person may switch from one kind of addiction to the other or even sustain multiple addictions at different times. Addictive personalities are very much sensitive to stress. They find it highly intimidating to tolerate frustrating situations, even for a short duration. They often lack self-esteem, show impulsive behavior and usually have a sense of heightened level of stress. wow ur really self improving, well done.
I am a walking, talking book on addictive personality's.
I am more anti social since I quit drinking.. But I know that I have a very addictive personality.. I fight it all the time..
I also have trouble spending too much time online (DS, sigh) and watching TV.
But drugs and alcohol have no control over me. Go figure.
I have issues with weed and have had issues with other drugs and drink. It also spills over into other, less highlighted problems. It breaks over into everything in some way. Im a an avid gamer but the addictive side makes me want to own every console and every game, its just not financially viable.
Im getting a handle on it tho. I resist the need to pick up weed quite well and have managed to break my use down to a couple of times a week but only with friends. I havnt bought a game since I pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2 and wont until after christmas now.
I sit and go round in circles with most of my vices. I quickly learnt that drink makes me a bit of an arsehole, which is why a drunken baz isnt seen on the boards. Its a shame my mind didnt learn a broader lesson
