Is there any way to get that creditor off your bank account? How can they access your bank account unless you gave them authorization to withdraw from it. You can visit your bank and remove any withdrawal authorization. As well, there a debt counseling companies you can look into who will act on your behalf with creditors to come to some kind of arrangements. I hope you or your husband have some family you might be able to borrow from until you can get these things in order. Money problems can be so stressful and worrying.

Did that company have a judgement against you? the only way they could have gotten your cash was if they had gone to court if they didn't go to court then they illegally took your money . Several companies are doing this and it is illegal , ask your bank to show you a copy of the judgement presented to them in order for the company to take your money. Also close that account immediately if you have Aoutomatic deposits going into that account STOP THEM if you have automatic withdrawals STOP THEM. PM me and I can give you a whole lot of info on what to do and where to look for the laws that you can utilize to get your money back. It will be hard BUT it will be worth it in the long run and the company might wind up oweing you money.

The Cable bill you can do without def try and pay the electric bill. I would def move any money you have coming in out of your checking account. I am sure they will do it again.

Well I know how you are feeling. In the united states there is no debitors prison. Yes they can put a lein on your home. If you dont pay for your car they can take it away. They can only garish a certain amt of your wages and none of your ssi or ssd( unless they are the irs). So the wors has happened , you are broke. You may have to give up a few things. In the end, you will still have each other. it will be a tough time however you can get through it.

Oh and in order to take money out of your account they have to have a judgement that is done every day. They can not just freeze your assessets. So someone knew this was about to happen. I

Thanks for the replies, but there was a judgement against us, so this is apparently legal. We are doing fine though, it is just a pain in the butt.

I spoke with my husband, and luckily he paid both the rent and phone/cable bill before the money was gutted.
Our main problem is that we have not paid the electric bill so electricity may be cut off.
Hubby should be paid Tuesday, but his boss has a bad habit of skipping paychecks.
As long as his boss pays on time, we should be fine, but if she doesn't pay him on time, things could get a bit rough.
As much as having this company take our money sucks, at least we are getting rid of one debt. I talked to hubby about canceling our bank account so our tax return won't go into the bank and have part of that money taken away. Apparently, if we were to do this, the company would have the right to take money from his job, so we decided to just allow them to take the money.
Of course, it would have been nice to have the option to just pay off our debts in installments...

If you contact the electric company, they may work with you. You may also contact your local parish/food bank and explain what is happening tomorrow. They will not give you the money, but they will often pay the overdue portion, if you can prove it. Start with the electric company first and tell them that your husband should be getting paid on tuesday, but that his boss is not always reliable.

One thing that confuses me, I believe you said you were expecting a child and your family was trying to move to New York City. Both of those things are so financially prohibitive I can't even fathom how anyone not out-and-out rich can pull them off.
