Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

How has it been for you? Are you doing ok?

my documentation went back years though... i want to say back to 89, when i was court ordered to go to therapy at age 10-11.
im associated with depression, but,i wasnt approved because of that.. so i dunno... im just me..
i appreciate it, cause without it id be lost.. but i only get 690 a month.. thats with a 3 dollar ssi check included.. and thats also with the state paying my medicare premium which is 100 a month.
When I lived in Fl, the state didnt pay that premium and I was getting 545 a month.. generally you get a cost of living increase, but, the government didnt give them out last year.. saying cost of living hasnt gone up.. apparently the government has never been to austin tx.
i wish i could have worked more to get my ssi portion up but i wasnt stable enough to hold jobs and pay into ssi.. i had 20 different jobs from 1997-2001 before i applied for disability in jan 02.. that included two years in the military with one of those years being in confinement, before i was officially discharged with a bcd. bcd is a bad conduct discharge btw..
i eat.. i have shelter cause i live with my bro.. but i still pay rent which doesnt leave much.. i havent bought me anything of value in years.
i mean id did better when i could keep a part time job to go along with those checks... but checking jobs are the issue.. now places dont even want to hire me...
im moving out into the streets next week... why.. cause..
In the Summer of 2009, my shrink said I was bad enough to go on disability but for me personally, it's not worth how long it takes to get it. Plus working keeps me sane.
When I was stable, for a good 3 years, I got up early daily and hit the gym, got ready for work and went to work. Then home I would go. I love a routine and I need a routine.
Right now, Sarah is not doing so well. But I just started a new AD. An MAOI called Parnate so let's all cross our fingers it works. And good luck to those of you seeking and needing disability. I know it's not easy to get. Peace.
