Hello all, Im glad to be part of your support group. Like probably most of you, I have considered suicide many times. I am a strong Catholic, which has kept me from actually doing it. I feel however, that if I ever did kill myself, that God would forgive me. I have never believed that God condemns all suicides to hell. I was just curious as to others' thoughts on the subject.

Do you think anxiety is genetic or comes from your environment? What are your thoughts?

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

The folks here have even better responses than I do :) definitely something to smile about!
That said, I don't think it is the answer.
However, after my nephew died, the preacher explained that he did not think God would send a person to hell for being sick. I believe that today.
My nephew was very ill mentally and in emotional pain. I wish he had not completed it, it devastated me. However, I understand how much pain he must have been in
. It still hurts though, even 12 years later. October is the anniversary of his death. I think that has had me bummed out lately.
Faith can be shaken or lost. If I ever cared about what God thought, well, that ended the day he took the love of my life from me. What keeps me alive is the thought of the pain I would cause my kids. I haven't gotten over or past the death of their mother nearly ten years ago and she didn't have a choice.
Every day I need to find a reason to continue dealing with the pain that I am in. It would be so very easy to just pull a trigger....then one of my kids will call or drop by and I promise myself, "not today".
I hope that you continue to find reasons to live your live whether it is family, children or faith. Whatever works, and if those things aren't enough, call someone, go to the emergency room, do whatever it takes, your kids need you to.
Just my opinion. Please be well.

The depression gene in my family is very strong. My mother was severly depressed her whole life & attempted suicide many times. All 3 of my sisters also have depression. My mom's mom was depressed, as well as her dad. My grandfather commited suicide & I have always thought my dad was depressed. Now, I am worried that my 2 estranged sons are depressed. I have spoken with them many times about it & offered to get them help many times. Niether one is interested in getting help. I will be honest, I have never seen a counselor OR a psychiatrist. My mom abandoned us when I was 9. I always wished my dad had gotten me couseling, but he didnt believe in it. I was raised to NOT talk about your problems, or even cry about them. Certainly, we were discouraged from seeking help from a mental health professional. I have always just prayed to God ALOT & talked to my sisters/husband. I have been seriously thinking about seeking advice from a counselor. But, I think, I have made it this far without counseling, so why bother? This support group will help. It will help talking with others with the same feelings. God Bless you all, believers & non-believers.
After treatment for throat cancer and while still in the hospital, she decided to "leave" by refusing all food and liquids. She asked her priest if he thought she'd go to hell, and he said "no, I would do the same."
I think suicide can be a rational choice, and we all should have the right to make that decision -- so I'm all in favor of assisted-suicide laws. But depressive thinking isn't rational, and I agree with jb143581 that suicide from depression should be considered death from mental illness, or the fatal outcome of the disease.
I'm not sure I believe in the standard "God" but I do believe that if there is one, he would not condemn suicides (for any reason) to hell.
I was raised in a Baptist church and still attend regularly but that doesn't keep the thoughts away. I'm not sure if it is who we are from birth or what, but depression is the worst. I always try to talk myself out by saying I could never do that to my parents. However, each time I do that I feel like it would be easier to leave them something to let them know they did everything they could.
I too wonder about how God feels about suicide. It is a sin and sins at forgivable but how do you forgive a sin if you have no time to ask for forgiveness? It's a tricky one. It's quite possible the only hope I hold on to sometimes. God's love is amazing!
If I go that way, I know that it will be for the right reasons and that there will only be two.. maybe three people that it will truly affect. One of them has done nothing to really ever try to support me.. even less when they found out a while back that I was indeed scared as hell regarding the "possibility". The other is a good friend and is one of the only reasons that I'm still here today. I'm hoping that that person would understand and look at it as if I have just moved away. They both have so many opportunities and long productive lives ahead anyway, so hopefully it will simply be a sad event that they will be able to accept in time. There is one more, and as guilty as I feel, I have over the last year tried to disconnect as much as possible from them so that it wouldn't sting quite so bad if it were to happen. They have a family and young children anyway, and they live many miles away, so it shouldn't be too hard on them.
I have to look out for myself and for what's right for me. I'm not selfish...never have been. It's been an exhausting and very painful life for some of us.
suicide: NO WAY
IF I commited suicide, the world would have one...and that is not going to happen
