Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Please don't say that about other people having it worse then you. That only makes you feel worse, and to be honest, none of us know how much pain and depression the other one is in. We know that we are all in the same boat so to speak and we support and help each other the best that we can. Maybe that is part of the problem, that you haven't written any poetry, or a book, or even read one. You seem to know that those 3 things help you because you mentioned them. I wanted to be a therapist myself and was only 3 classes away from getting out of City College and moving on but that ended abruptly with all of my pain and depression. But it is not too late for you. I can't even work, and it's too late for me to go back to school, so how about you doing it for the both of us? Don't say you are not good in school. I was TERRIBLE in grammar and high school, all D's and F's mostly, but then I went to college and I was going to prove myself and everyone else, that I was not stupid and I could do it. And I had a learning disability that I didn't know about until I got to college. I got all A's and B's throughout school except for one C and I blame that on my youngest son because I was chasing him all over Tim buck too, when he was being naughty. Once you get into school, you will start having a different attitude about a lot of things, your brain will start working where it doesn't feel dull anymore, and you will feel better about yourself. It would be nice if you could get some therapy yourself now, learn about what is going on with you, and it will also help you with your training. Into your program, you can do internship work and that will help. You will be too busy to be down on yourself like you are now. Get back to reading and writing, okay? I wrote a poem in the Football Forum about my Football Team back in the 80's. Maybe you can get a good chuckle over that since I'm a lousy writer. You have not brought anyone down. We are here to support you and help you all that we can. Keep coming back and welcome back!!! Do us proud, I need a therapist!!!
To Kp0988 I going to start going to a thing called Stephen Ministries in September. It's to help/counsel/support people who are having problems, and it's a spiritual thing.
I thought about online classes actually, Yes, I asked my social worker if I could job shadow her, and she has to have it oked. Intern sound like good idea. I used to volunteer at assisted living helping the blind play bingo and a server/deliverer at a place kind o flike meals on wheels. I also volunteered at salvation army for a day.
to gramybear-but they do have it worse i think,
yes it does make me feel worse, true we don't know how much pain anyone has in their lives.
yeah I need to get back in the loop of writing and reading, it suppose to keep your mind sharp.
I am so sorry that you didn't finish your last three classes,
that must be painful for you.
Why is it too late for you to go back to school?
so how about you doing it for the both of us? Sounds like a challenge, I want to make you proud.
I have been depressed all my life, so I didn't know i was sick until about 10 years ago.no, I didn't apply myself in hs so I am so regretting that now.I was good like in 4or 5 classes, Art, Creative writing, history and psychology, and business law....
I got as or bs thos classes, I didn't have many friends back then either. I guess i was loser.
Yep that motivates people, trying to prove it to others and your self that your good enough, my mom had to prove herself and she went to college, which I am very proud of her. I think i'll try finding a therapist that will work for me.
thanks caroltho... Thanks for your confidence of me being a good therapist....
