Depression Supporters Support Group
This community is dedicated to spouses, children, relatives, co-workers and others who are actively supporting someone suffering from depression or other serious mental illness. Depression can bring about intense sadness, melancholia or despair that has advanced to the point of being disruptive, which can have a grave impact on the ability of others trying to help.
There is no shortcut to getting this fixed quicker, its a matter of finding the right combo of meds and the right Therapist. Rushing and fighting it and giving up, can make it worse. At some point you have to come to terms with your Diagnosis and understand that it can take time to get to a point of stability, in the meantime you have to keep up with Therapy and give the meds time to work. It can take 3 - 4 weeks for Psych meds to hit therapeutic level and work correctly, in the beginning of treatment when you're trying to find the right meds, it can take time to get the right ones.
Try to learn some relaxation and deep breathing techniques and work on coming to terms with the fact that this is your normal life now....acceptance goes a very long way towards making this easier to live with.
Take care,
Kat
