Degenerative Joint Disease Support Group
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a condition in which low-grade inflammation results in pain in the joints, caused by wearing of the cartilage that covers and acts as a cushion inside joints. Due to decreased movement because of the pain, regional muscles may atrophy, and ligaments may become more lax. OA is the most common form of arthritis.
Heat for me is better for pain without swelling. I've never liked ice/cold on joint pain. A super hot soaking bath, or heating pads, rice buddies are always my preference for knee/hip/shoulder joint pain.
I also use NSAIDS for joint pain, never rely on narcotics or tylenol. I've had a Degenerative Cartilage Disease and Advance OsteoArthritis since I was 17, been doing this for 32 years.
