I've been having epidural injections for many years primarily for my cervical spine. I had one done on Friday. Sometime today I noticed my face was really hot, so I looked in the mirror and I have facial flushing.
I did some online research and discovered that it is not that uncommon and that benadryl should help.
There was nothing in the notes they gave me about this of course, but nonetheless, that is my situation. I felt so lousy that I laid down and woke up late. Don't feel comfortable driving to an all night pharmacy this late as I live way out in the country, so I will have to wait until morning. I also have a crap headache. I took my migraine medication as usual and added an allergy cap for good measure. Will probably sleep with my face on ice and with another pack on the back on my brain.
Good Grief. I have another MRI set for Wednesday for my lower back. The first one they did was on my tailbone. The good news is that there is no fracture, the bad news is that is is probably referred pain from the lower back. Generally frustrated, feeling like I have wasted time and effort on the pain that is knocking me for six. They gave me 4 shots in my tailbone that helped for 8 days. That wore off and I'm on my own.
Just call me ol' sunburn face! The injection for my lower back is scheduled for the following Wednesday...always something fun to do huh kids!
Just generally frustrated that I queen of first aid have absolutely no benadryl...you'd kind of think since I'm hypersensitive to like duh uh everything...anyway...hugs to all, just needed to VENT!
I'll be the RED EASTER EGG tomorrow...it's all good, just being a whiner without any cheese............

Actually my face gets red occasionally too. Last time I was in the ER, she asked me if I had liver problems. Someone is always giving me something new to worry about, although I'm aware that the hydrocodone is really bad for the liver.

I went to the pharmacy and Greg (pharmacist) gave me 4 tsp. of benadryl on the spot. My face was no longer hot, but it was stop sign red, the flushing had moved down my neck and onto my upper chest above the collar bone area. He also checked my blood pressure, it was elevated, so he had me sit for 15 min. and checked it again. It was down to an acceptable level.
I went on to the family Easter gathering. He warned me that I would get really drowsy. I actually felt kind of tipsy, giddy...whoops! Then I noticed I had hives on both forearms and felt thick. I had edema in my ankles, feet, lower legs, hands and face. I am hypersensitive to the planet earth and all of its many contents. Criminy!
NO itching, that is good! Called the pharmacist and he asked me a few questions, my breathing is weird, out of breath just sitting, but not scarily so. No tongue thickening or anything dangerous, he told me no more benadryl, duh!!!! And to call my doctor tomorrow and see if I could get a prescription antidote.
I wanted to just be Sparrow or Little Sparrow in English, but that was taken so I found Serce in Turkish, liked the sound of the word, then another poster told me that while Serce in Turkish means Sparrow, in Polish it means Heart...ain't that a PIP!!!!
Nice.....! The tall fry hid 394 Easter eggs for the small fry...hilarity ensued...all good fun! Hugs!
