My "bad" leg is much weaker than the "good" one. It kind of goes out on me off and on, but it's nothing that actually prevents me from doing anything I want to do. I have good days and bad days, but the good still outnumber the bad, in general. Sounds like you have PTS, though. That's one of the symptoms when mine acts up. It will do that when there's a big rain coming in too. for some reason. That and swelling and hurting and turning all purpley.

If the valves are damaged, that leads to impaired blood flow, so it may be a traditional doppler ultrasound wouldn't pick that up.

I have PTS and an ultrasound was used only to rule out another clot. My diagnosis was based on my clinical symptoms not on the doppler itself.

Going to fellow up with the hospital tom and after reading this it makes more sense.
If the Valves are damaged only to the point where they fail under load beyond normal a ultrasound not to likely to show it when you on your back.

It would only show it if there extensive damaged that it affected resting.

You would think there be a better test.

I think there are some more invasive type testing like a venography but to me, it's just a reasonable conclusion that if there's no clot, which the doppler ruled out, then it's likely some form of PTS given the symptoms. Having the test wouldn't change the treatment or the fact that you have it, know what I mean?

I still have a lot of leg pain and mobility issues. My last Ultrasound came back with a partial clot in the deep and superficial veing behind my right knee after 9 months of being theraputic on Warfarin. The veinous compressability and blood flow was also noted as being normal. So I don't the tests are accurate. There has to be some sort of damage going on for there to chronic pain in the legs. None of my doctors (three of them now) will acknowledge my pain or mobility issues. Most doctors describe Post Thrombotic Syndrome as being a slight nuissance. None of my three doctors will even entertain a diagnosis of Post Thrombotic Syndrome. But after 17 months of no improvement in pain and mobility, what else could it be attributed to? Believe me, I wish this was all a minor nuissance.

I consicer a skin condition to be a minor nuissance, not a condition that effects your entire life. On a good not I resisted the urge to choke my doctor out yesterday and avoided being locked up for a few days. Imagine being in jail and having to fight for your shoes with a bad leg. Trying to explain to Bubba that you can't do a roundhouse kick with your right leg, and can he please go easy on you because you're semi-disabled. lol.

Any how, if you have a lot of pain, make sure the doctors hear about it. Burn up them 20 dollar co-pays and make an appointment with your doc every week! I can't do that because I;m a cash patient and at 60 bucks a pop, I don't want to pay to hear the doc say I shouldn't be in pain.
