I had a DPT and PE one year year ago. Could not walk leg was so swollen and no air in my lungs.Three months of PT after I got stable. Walking with a cane.Joined gym and worked out one hour a day-5 days a week. Swollen leg getting back to normal size and stronger as well. Several ultra-sounds performed to monitor the clot. Compression stocking removed after 3 months.
Yesterday, my cardiologist took me off the Xarelto and scheduled me for a new ultra-sound in 4 months..
Interesting. I thought Xarleto was like Warfarin and you take it the rest of your life. My Doc told me 8 to 12 months is normal for Xarelto

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Whether to be on any anticoagulant for a limited time or for life depends on the reason for the clot, the extent of the clot, risk factors, etc. So not every one on warfarin is on it for life. Many are on it for just 3-12 months.
Some of us lucky ducks are repeat clotters (I've clotted three times) and have wound up as "lifers" on warfarin as a result. But, that isn't most people, for sure.
