Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.

Hey guys! I’m 4 months into my DVT, on xalerto once a day.
Im not a regular smoker but sometimes smoke a few cigarettes for a couple of days, a mood thing. Does anyone know if smoking has an immediate effect on blood circulation? Is it too much of a risk? I’m fairly active and move around a lot.

Lol Andreas, sorry, Typo. “Smoking and DVT”

I don’t know but honestly no one is going to tell smoking occasionally is ok. I mean, smoking makes your platelets stick together, even if socially smoking so it seems completely counter intuitive to do if you have a clotting history.

Yea I thought so. I mean I never even tried since I had my DVT. But you know, sometimes I get the urge for a cigarette or two.

I get it. I didn’t mean to sound preachy either. I just think if you can ride craving out, do it.
