I totally mixed up this post with another. I was thinking you were the one who'd had the DVT 18 months ago, so the PTS seemed a likely possibility. Sorry about that! Rmb is right. If you recently had the DVT, it's normal for it to swell at the end of the day. Even my "good" (ie, not DVTs) leg swells occasionally after I've been up and on it a lot through the day. It's obviously not the drastic swelling like the DVT leg, but if a normal leg swells, it's pretty reasonable to assume the DVT would do so even more. Sorry for my confusion. It's been one of those weeks. ;-)

No problem......I still appreciate your reply. I guess I'm a bit of a worry wort and some parts of this DVT PE thing just don't make a lot of sense to me.....like why did I not have DVT symptoms until after I was home from the hospital for the PE. Calf didn't hurt until afterwards.......

I had PE symptoms a couple of months prior to ever having DVT symptoms so it's not unheard of to not have DVT symptoms or they occur later. And remember now your body is healing, working to creating collateral veins. Healing in itself is painful.

It's so normal to worry. And if you have worrying tendencies anyway, that just heightens everything and it makes you hyper vigilant about every thing happening in your body.

When I first came home from the hospital my foot looked like professor clumps foot on the nutty professor. It was swollen so bad I thought it was going to pop. Then I started using 20-30 MMhg compression stalkings and within two days the swelling subsided and has not returned. It's been almost a year today that I was released from the hospital. I tried to wear the 30-40 MMhg compression stalkings but they hurt so bad and actually caused my leg to start swelling again so I am sticking with with the 20-30 MMhg stalkings.I still have a big lump behind my knee that is very painful and makes it almost impossible for me to wear thigh high stalkings so I wear the knee high ones.

Everyones body is different. I walked around for almost 5 months with my DVT before I got treatment. I don't have any leg discoloration, minor swelling, but I have days where the pain is between level 5 and level 8 and I can barely kneel down or bend and I still can't climb up the stairs normally. Your leg will get better. Also you're not a sissy. This is very scary stuff to deal with. Every time my chest hurts I think to myself "here we go again" I hope I don't die today. Just take it one day at a time!
