Hello Dear DS Friends,
I have not been on here in quite a while. I won't elaborate but will leave you all with a though, it is never so bad that it can't get worse. I have been working through MAJOR health issues with another beloved family member yet again. It has been the biggest trial of my life. So apologies for not reading your posts and for disappearing. I care about all of you because this board really kept me sane during Stratos DVT and PE. Its not all bad news!! My husband is doing FANTASTIC, so for anyone working through this I want to offer assurance that the first scary months do somehow get more bearable. There are plenty of ups and downs, but I cannot complain one minute. My husband has gone back to work full time. He has regained his confidence. His heart is in good shape. His arteries are fine. I am reaching out now because he has to have a long vein in his right leg removed on Oct 3rd. He is going to go off warfarin 4 days before the operation and I am feeling nervous about it. :( Not here to moan. Just a little edgy. I hope anyone new that has going through PE can take comfort in the fact that in many ways I have watched my husbands life return to a quality of life that I believe is better than the one before his incident. He is aware of his health much more. Our family is much stronger. We do not take anything for granted. We appreciate life. And we conclude what does not kill you makes you stronger. Not to say it has been easy. I guess I am rambling. I am sorry. God bless you all and I appreciate the friends I have made here.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.

I'm sure he'll be find off the warfarin. I assume they're giving him shots up until very close to the surgery?
I had two surgeries in 2011 and came through with flying colors, even though one doc wanted me to stop warfarin two weeks before the surgery! Just be sure you're clear on when he'll restart the anticoagulants after the surgery and make sure they he restarts with both shots and warfarin until his INR gets back into range.

So happy that Stavros' surgery went well! I am sure that now you can breathe a sigh of relief over that.
Glad all went well with the Lovenox bridge. I have had to do that a few times~~for medical procedures, and right now, in fact, because my INR's have slipped down to the 1.something range! It is scary, but knowing the Lovenox works in a different way than Coumadin, but still provides "blood thinning", it's a relief.
I pray that Stavros' recovery is quick and uncomplicated. And I pray that you and your family are blessed beyond your expectations.
