Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
Newly diagnosed and looking for advice
Last Thursday March 1, 2018 I noticed my right ankle, calf and thigh swollen (came on all of a sudden). Concerned I went to doctor and was immediately sent to ER to rule on blood clot. After an ultrasound I was told I had two clots in my upper thigh area. I spent the night on heparin iv and left the hospital the following day and given Xarelto (3 months to start). Doctors not able to pinpoint the cause for me other than drove to DC to visit colleges with my daughter (7 to 8 hour car ride). I am wondering what advice people have on exercise, supplements, diet, or other things I can do to help my cause. I am feeling better and swelling seems to be going down but again want to do whatever I can to do get back to normal. Thanks for any feedback.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
