Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
Try to remind yourself that most people who have dvts do not have cancer. A lot of doctors do exactly what yours is doing. Remind yourself too that you are on anticoagulants which is protecting you from further clots.
It’s all ok.
I agree to go to the ER when in doubt but you clearly recognize you are in a state of panic, right? So, what do you typically do to help yourself when you feel panicked or anxious? I try to do body scan meditation to slow my thoughts down and really get present with my body and mind.
The emotional fall out from having gone through a really scarey health event is very real. So you have to come up with some coping strategies so you can not feel terrified all the time. Because feeling anxious and stressed all the time actually amplifies discomfort, pain, shortness of breath, heart rate, etc. Consider talking to someone. I saw a therapist a few times after my PEs and it really help me.
I had massive PEs, both lungs, a dvt from calf to thigh, heart damage (it corrected itself over time), a filter inserted, was in the ICU for 3 days and in the heart unit for 4 days. And I am completely normal and healthy. I’m like most PE survivors in that most of us and I really mean most of us fully recover. You are going to be ok.
I’m so glad your scan came back normal.
I do like the idea of slowing down. I put on golf or some other boring monotonous tv and do deep breathing excercises.
