Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.

Though the new studies do conclude that there is no benefit in prevention of PTS from wearing of compression stockings following a DVT, there is still strong evidence that wearing them does alleviate the symptons of PTS in the majority of patients.
For those patients who say that pain and swelling still exisits even when wearing compression stockings, then one could argue as to whether there is any benefit for that particular person to wear compression stockings. From my own experience, if pain and swelling persists even when wearing them, chances are things could be a lot worse if you don't wear them. Though that may not necessarily be a broad statement (for some people the stockings may be causing greater discomfort) it will apply to a strong majority of patients.
Another thing to consider is, we are already at greater risk for future DVT's due to restricted blood flow. If your PTS normally causes swelling of the legs, this increases the risk further. Wearing compression stockings may possibly reduce the risk of future DVT rather than compounding the risk .
As always, it all boils down to what's best for you and what you and your doctor feel comfortable with.
Now I feel naked without them.
It holds my leg together and supports it. I adtually have some calf muscle issues and it is a nice compression sleeve when working out too. They are going to be a part of my life. Try not to hate them so much, it just makes it more difficult for you. It is what it is.
The last time my dad said "I love you" was on a Monday. For the rest of my life, Mondays will never be a bad day.
If your stocking prevent the hell of another DVT, embrace it.
I am digging this up because I don't want new patients to misinterpret our discussion here. All research has its flaws I guess
