Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.

Visited my doc yesterday. I thought I had been doing fairly well. I did notice some off and on extreme nausea. Occaisional diarrhea. Then I had an increase in bruising and bleeding from itching different places on my skin. What put me over the top was an itch on my left palm. I itched it and in doing so appeared to break a small blood vessel. It bruised immediately and really hurt! I called the doc and told her that I was going to have my protime done, believing that my blood was going to test "thin".
When I arrived at the doctor's office yesterday the doctor informed me that my INR was the lowest that it has ever tested. Then it began. (My INR has been up and down, resulting in hospitilization twice, since Feb 2012). The questions, the 3rd degree. "What have you been eating? Are you taking the meds properly? " Immediately MY FAULT. I'm so over this. I am sick and tired of feeling like shit. I am sick and tired of watching every little thing I eat. (I hardly eat at all actually). I want to feel normal again. And how dare I mention that I am nauseous and that my legs swell and they ache - "There are NO side effects of Warfarin". As if it's all in MY HEAD!! Really? No side effects of Warfarin? It is a MEDICATION for heaven's sake.
I guess what bothered me the most was that I thought I was getting the hang of how my body was reacting to the warfarin. I thought I knew the different symptoms and how they related to my INR. Then I test at 1. This scares me. I feel as tho I am teetering on the edge of another stroke, without any forewarning.
Thanks guys for letting me rant.......

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I've been on warfarin for 6 years and have NEVER been able to gauge whether my INR is high or low. I still have times where it just goes a little wonky. It happens. If it didn't,we wouldn't have to test regularly.
I'm sorry you feel so poorly and so frustrated. I really am. That just frames everything. If you are suspecting a stroke, please see someone right away. I mean, that's not something to mess around with.
I hate being on wafarin. I didn't eat green vegetables for the whole time I was taking the medication... Can I ask why you are still taking wafarin since your clot is from back in 2012? I thought the usual length of treatment is 6 months.
I hope you feel better now. Will taking a food diary help?
