Since marijuana is both a depressant and hallucinogen (as well as having stimulant properties for some), you may very well be delusional. The depressant effects may produce an analgesic effect, lessening your perception of pain as well. However, since moderate to heavy use may be linked to lung cancer and heart disease, I'm not sure of the therapeutic benefits for DVT... Well, that and it's illegal in most states.

Karate maybe you're right! It's easy to do the edibles here in CA, from thc infused oil for cooking, to drinks, to fruit leather, the possibile ways to take thc besides smoking are varied. Doing tea with water based thc is quite pleasant. There also are two main strains, indica- a body relaxing effect - vasodialating effect. Then sativa is more cerebral as you say hallucinagenic but I've rarely experienced anything like that... It does really help reduce my BP. Anyway the side effects are way less than many drugs. The thc concentrate also supposedly cures some cancers according to a guy in Canada. I don't know at all if it helps in any way with dvt so I'm simply relating a possible beneficial experience ie. A lessening of pain and other unpleasant dvt pts type pains. Could be the thc it's purely anecdotal. Don't do something you feel is not helpful and can be harmful. And don't do if your state doesn't support it's medical use!

Karate it's now legal in 11-12states and many more are quickly either legalizing or decriminalizing and instating med marij use. Also the hempseed us very nutritious and high in omega 3s. There are many beneficial uses of. We don't need trees for paper, hemp makes good paper.. On and on it's a green sort of natural resource...also your body and everyones body has natural cannabinoid receptors in our brains. All of us possess this lock and key mechanism in our brains just the same for opiods. Our brains including yours possess inboard endocannabinoids.. It's an overall very useful plant that seems to have some interesting health promoting effects..

Believe me David, I know about cannabinoid receptors and opioid receptors and am aware that my brain contains them. I was just trying to explain how it works to relieve pain. thc is classified as a hallucinogenic depressant . The depressant effect lowers your BP. The hallucinogenic effect makes you, well, feel good, and sometimes hallucinate. Similar to morphine not exactly taking away the pain, but you just don't care any longer.

Calling it a "cerebral effect" is more humorous, though. Unfortunately, if someone is predisposed to depression or psychosis, thc can make symptoms much more severe. I have had to admit people to the psychiatric hospital when THC triggered a psychotic episode. Not pretty.

So, it is not a drug without negative side effects. Like any drug, it depends on the person and dosage. Similar to how Warfarin effects us all differently.

Be careful with your "edibles". Because the thc is concentrated the negative effects can be more pronounced than with smoking. Of course then you risk cancer.

It is not legal for just anyone to decide to use marijuana in the 12 states with medical marijuana laws. All require a prescribing physician and an id card. In California, to receive a legal card, the application must include:

(1) The name of the person, and proof of his or her residency within the county.

(2) Written documentation by the attending physician in the person' s medical records stating that the person has been diagnosed with a serious medical condition and that the medical use of marijuana is appropriate.

(3) The name, office address, office telephone number, and California medical license number of the person's attending physician.

(4) The name and the duties of the primary caregiver.

(5) A government-issued photo identification card of the person and of the designated primary caregiver, if any. If the applicant is a person under 18 years of age, a certified copy of a birth certificate shall be deemed sufficient proof of identity.

So, it is only legal under a doctor's supervision and prescription. The process to obtain the card is rather long and cumbersome. Without those it is as illegal as me using it in PA.

Of course, I have had the same bottle of 20 Vicodin tablets for 4 months. I really don't like taking mind-altering drugs so I probably wouldn't go to all the trouble to get a card if it were legal.

I am aware of the nutritional use of hemp seeds. Hemp is not the same species as marijuana plants. Hemp plants contain almost no THC but contain CBD that blocks THC. I have no problem with eating hemp (although I prefer my homemade bread to my mother-in-law's hemp bread).

In my 20's I tried many "natural" cures and went to naturopaths. After a few close calls requiring hospitalizations from reactions to herbs and then worsening medical conditions, I am now much more cautious.

Hi karate, you make good sense, I agree for most part, I lean more favorably to natural plant based / holistic therapies. Certainly pharmaceuticals pack a stronger punch, is more targeted many times, etc... They have many deleterious effects more so than natural plant based, not that plants are without bad effects..ie. when I take garlic, Ginger, tumeric, vit e, quercitin, Hawthorne, hops, dhea, fish oil, etc, I never get a cancer growing, a tremor (tardive dyski), blurred vision, constipation, dizziness, Fatigue, skin degredation, liver destruction, or any major body system insult/disruption, most natural substances you pick whatever you want to take - I don't care whatever you like, except for a very few and depending on amount, it is often beneficial for our body system ie. Promotes our well being. Anyway you sound like you're phobic about potential of natural plants to heal. Most pharmaceut are from plants. Are you watching anderson Cooper on the amazon global warming, there are many species of plants from amazon that may holdany therapeutic properties.. Karate live certainly by your own beliefs, I feel if given more scientific study, lots of plants including thc/ marij can be found to be therapeutic. It's totally anecdotal, but for what it's worth I think indicas can relieve pts symptoms, and the vasodialation may have potential therapeutic effects for dvt. It is very well accepted for use here - by the way the process to get a certificate is relatively simple- I happen to think people are misinformed who close their minds to potential healing nature of plants. But by all means think whatever you like and make up you're own mind to any possibilities for more healthful curatives.. Make yourself happy
