I recently had a discussion with my doc about my delivery.....I'm 26 weeks pregnant. He said that I only have to be off the lovenox 6 hours prior to a vaginal delivery or 12 hours for a c-section. Well after much research, I have found out I am supposed to stop the shots 24 hours prior to delivery if I want an epidural. If I only stop 6 hours before how am I supposed to get it if I need it. I am so confused. I am not saying that I know for sure I want an epi but it's a pretty good chance I'll get one since I'm being induced. Anyone have any advice or similar stories. At this point anything will help! I would love to hear from other women who had babies while on lovenox.

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Find out who the anethesiologist is at the hospital you are delivering at and his policy. The epidural is really at his discretion. I found out at one hospital I could not get one and another one I can. You may have to switch hospitals if you have a choice. They tested my blood before I got one and my levels were good so I was able to get an epidural.
I found out one anethesiologist said you have to be off blood thinners 8 hours before delivery and another one said 12. Find out what your anethesiologist says.

I was hospitalized 72 hours prior and converted to heparin drip. This has a shorter half life - 4 hours. I was hospitalized Fri and induced on a Monday at 37 weeks. They did not want me to go into labor on my own. Sunday night they inserted gel onto my cervix to soften it and stopped my heparin drip at midnight. Monday they started the Pitocin drip. I was extremely scared as I was not sure I could have an epidural. Like I said, one anethesiologist said 8 hours another one said 12. They tested my blood and I got one. I heard if I was at a different hospital they would not have done it.
This was my second delivery. I see that this will be your second delivery too. You are extremely lucky as the second time was so...... much better. I think you will do okay.
The good news is my epidural wore off at 7cm and yes it hurt and was painful but I felt it was nowhere near as bad as the pain of my original DVT!!!!
email me if you have further question. Don't be scared as it was not as bad as I expected. Make sure you find a good hematologist to work with too. You did not mention getting tested to find out the cause of your DVT.

For me anyway the pain was so much worse for my first delivery.
