Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
Joint Pain - any help would be appreciated

Hi There,
I'm 6 weeks in to taking Warfarin after having a subclavian clot. My INR seems to have finally reached the safe zone and has stayed there for the past 2 weeks which is great. Since starting my treatment I've been feeling tired very easily and a little nauseated. I'm finding these things okay to manage but far out - this last week I've had some crazy and scary joint/muscle/bone pain. It gets worse as the day progresses and has been waking me up at night. The only thing that helps is heat packs or having a bath.
The pain is worrying me so I'm seeing my Doc tomorrow. I've never experienced pain like this before - it's widespread and very unpleasant. It's not sharp pain, and there's no swelling, but doing little things like cooking dinner is a real chore. I'm meant to be back to full time work but the pain's stopping me from working any more than 6 hours. Pre DVT I was a keen runner - i'm not running at the moment but I go on small walks a few times a day.
Has anyone else experienced this? I understand fully it might not be the warfarin at all, and I realise I'm seeing my Doc tomorrow but I'd love to hear some personal accounts. It's really painful and any support would be lovely.
Thankyou

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I could blame dehydration for the nausea, but not sure about the pain. I hope your doc has some ideas.
Keep us posted!
I went to my Doc about the pain. I was in a bit of a state by the time I got there because I was in so much pain so he was mostly great. He checked me over and the bulk of the pain seemed to be coming from my torso. I told him it didn't feel like organ pain but he ordered some tests of my liver, kidney etc just to be sure. Other than that he said it's definitely possible that warfarin can cause pain like this- but it's unusual. I'm just glad he didn't say 'it has no side effects' - think I might have whacked him one if he said that!
I'll keep you posted on my test results, and you guys keep me posted on your health. Here's to a better, more healthy us very soon!
