Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
International Travel after DVT
Hi all,
I was diagnosed with a DVT (likely from birth control combined with exertion from a bike race/dehydration) in 2016. At first my anxiety and depression was awful and thought I would never get back to normal.
Slowly over time I’ve been doing much better and rarely even think about my DVT much. However, I’m getting ready to go overseas for a trip and realized it is my first trip over there after having the DVT and began to get very anxious about flying. I know all of the preventative measures but I’m still very anxious. I flew to California from Ohio last week for work and am freaking out that I could already have a DVT.
Anyone have any advice?

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Otherwise, all you can do take steps to lowers your risk so if have some compression stockings where them in the flight, stay hydrated, get up periodically and walk, flex your feet up and down periodically while sitting to keep blood flowing, wear loose fitting clothes, etc.
I know it’s scary but the good thing is you are aware of the risks and know how to lessen the risks. You’ll be ok.
