Warfarin can cause that for some people. I have hair thinning from warfarin, but it's gotten better over the years. Also, when I was off of warfarin for a while it grew back.

I don't take anything for it or use special shampoo. When it first started happening, I took about 3 inches off my hair just so it felt thicker and healthier. I keep my hair trimmed regularly, like every 8 weeks I do use a dry shampoo on my hair and roots to make it feel thicker, and this other product I recommended on the PE site called Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Volumizing & Texturizing Powder. You sprinkle it on your roots and it gives it a lift, and again just makes it feel thicker.

Sometimes changing your part can help too.

I also had hair loss from coumadin, the first time I was on it (2001) I lost clumps and had bald spots. When I went back on coumadin in 2007, I had thinning but no bald spots. I have no hair loss on Lovenox. The hair grew back without any issues. I did cut my hair short though to help with slowing the hair loss both times.

I lost lots of hair on Warfarin, it's still growing back steadily now I'm injecting, it's coming up 2 years since I stopped Warfarin & it's still a lot thinner than usual.
I cut it really short, which isn't me at all, but at least it hid the lack of thickness & also the wispy new growth that I now see around my hairline!

I read a lot of comments about hair loss on coumadin. I have a problem with it and am looking for answers. It has gotten worse with time (I've been a lifer for 3 years) and if it continues like this I will have to resort to wearing a wig or changing medication at some point. I'm thankful that my hair is thick to begin with so I've been successful at hiding it up to this point.

At first I was able to part it on the side and cover the bald patches but now it's on both sides and I have a receding hair line. I have some regrowth on the sides but the bald patches are permanent. I think in my situation it's caused by a combination of warfarin and another med that I take so it's exacerbated by the warfarin. My dr thought it may be thyroid related because it's so bad and tested that last year but it's not related.

I think it's important to get frequent trims, every 6-8 weeks, which is what I've always done to keep it healthy. That did help the severity at the beginning. At this point there's no way to cover the bald spots. When I use conditioner my hair comes out in bigger handfuls while washing it, no idea why. I discontinued blow drying and styling my hair because every time I brush it, more comes out. I go through a lot of Drano to unclog my drains.

I'll try the product that rmb mentions and see how that works for me. I thought about going real short (it's not me either!) to see if that would help hide anything and after reading Scattybat's post I think I'll ask my hairdresser what she thinks.

I'm going to try the product too. What do I have to lose? Just more hair :)

I'm having lots of residual hair in the comb as well. I take prenatal vitamins because they're free of vitamin k. Take Care!

I have notices some hair loss but it's only been a week for me and my hair is normally thin. A friend of mine had a lot of hair loss on Warfarin and she used Rogain and it came back nicely. I'm not sure how I feel about it but I'm going to look into it. I also know when I die my hair blonde it looks better with the thin hair then when I had darker died hair. I'm not sure about any restrictions with my hair since I was just diagnosed and out of the hospital last week but I'm hoping there isn't much.

I have very dishwater blonde hair and so I color / highlight it to lighten it up and it does make it look and feel thicker, I think. But it can also be damaging so I'd make sure your taking good care of your hair. I don't believe there's any such thing as a hair restriction with warfarin.

I've had thinning with the Warfarin too. I lost a lot of hair with it back in 2007, and a friend with the same problem recommended Biotin. That's the vitamin that's in those hair, skin, and nails pills. I started taking those, and my hair came back quite a bit after about 3 months. It's still thinner than it used to be (which was never all that thick), but you really can't tell it anymore. Now if I forget to refill my biotin pills before I run out, I can definitely tell a difference. I start back up on them, and back the hair comes. I love it. Oh, and I ran it by my doc before starting, and he said it would be okay to take with the Warfarin.
