Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.

Hello,
In may I was diagnosed with massive PE. No DVT was ever found.
I am not using any medicine at the moment.
Probable cause was birth control pills which I have stopped.
Since about a week I have a sore spot on my left leg.
It is to the side of my leg (not in de calve) about 5cm below the knee.
I mostly feel it when sitting down or e.g. when in the shower.
It is not real 'pain' but more a strange feeling that resembles a bruise but more pulsating.
Went to the GP yesterday but she said it was nothing. There is no swelling, it is not red, the calve is not hard, the leg is not warm. Really there is nothing to see.
But still I feel a little anxious about it.
What are the chances I have DVT without any symptoms?

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I have no idea what is causing this sore spot. Could it not be some localised inflammation due to injury? some localised sprain? I would perhaps wait for few days and see how it progresses. I understand your anxiety. Patients with or have had DVT will often try to relate all symptoms they get with possible DVT. This is understandable as DVT can be difficult to diagnose. It is thus important to check out all unusual symptoms. In your case, I would think that your GP is correct and the best strategy is not to worry to much about this sore spot.
