Can a DVT occur while on Warfarin

Hi in a bit of a panic was diagnosed with a dvt in September and have been using Warfarin every day and getting my inr checked weekly .My dvt occurred after breaking my ankle in August .Everything seemed good and i have been walking as much as possible .Then on Christmas day i  noticed my ankle was swollen rested it for 2 days and it got bigger not smaller ...My dvt was super painful and this swelling of my ankle is not painful at all .Should i go see a doctor can i have another dvt even on Wararin ..Any advise would be great as i do not want to spoil the holidays for my family.

It's possible but it really is not common, especially if your INR is therapeutic. If you are worried call your doc.

If this is a localised swelling around the ankle, then this is probably related to the ankle injury. If you would have swelling involving e.g. the calf and the foot, then this could indicate a DVT re-occurrence. You should be protected against clotting if you are fully antico9agulated.

Thank you for your help i will go to the doctor in the new year as there is a little pain in my leg and ankle now.

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
