I noticed the other day I have a good size bruise on the outer aspect of my left knee. It is about the size of a half dollar and is slightly tender to touch. The bruise is also discolored, blue/purpleish. my question is this... should I go to my dr about this as I have a blood clot in my left leg in area of the bruise?

Generally with bruises, the advice is to get them checked out if they're continuing to grow in size and/or are extremely painful.

Since I'm on anticoagulants, I get bruises all the time. Most the time, I have no idea what caused them! I've had some real doozies a few times but nothing that has ever caused lasting issues. Most of the time, they're gone in a few days.

I had one issue a few years back where I did something to my foot and it wound up bleeding internally. I had a big bruise that you could see on the top AND bottom of the foot and I couldn't walk on it. That one, I did go to see the doctor. We didn't find any real issues, but it was a real pain to be unable to walk for a while.

Keep an eye on it, if it keeps growing, definitely check in with the doc.

Finally got an appointment to see my dr about the bruise. It is just that a bruise. She did make note that I am getting more swelling back and suggested taking vitamin d as well as getting some compression stockings. I won't lie I was scared to death that I had another clot. But am feeling a bit more relieved now.

Yeah random bruises are going to happen because of the warfarin (assuming you're on warfarin) and they'll appear randomly for no apparent reason at all. After a while it gets a little easier to know what's something to be concerned about.

Also, it's not unusual to get some swelling post DVT because you are probably standing more and more active. Stockings should help with that.

Glad you have a little peace of mind. I sometimes think that's worth the trip to the doctor alone.

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
