Yeah some people report this happens. I agree with Rosiethecat that Ihe should report it to his doc, if he's on warfarin, perhaps his INR is running high.

Is it massive amounts, like he can actually SEE it, or is it a trace when they do a urinalysis? I've been on them nonstop for 11 years, and I always have a trace in my urine. It baffles the docs, because I've had every test known to man, trying to figure out where it's coming from. The general consensus is that it's just my new normal. On the other hand, several years ago, my INR got WAY too high, and I was actually peeing blood. That cleared up when they got me sorted back out, though. No matter what, he needs to talk to his doc, but I would also reassure him in the meantime that it could very well be nothing at all.

When I had to go into the hospital for a blood clot in my leg and both lungs the knee quit hurting.

The knee is hurting now but not as badly. Yep, they found another smaller clot in the same leg. I've been referred to a hematologist because the dr. thinks the xarelto is not working for me.

It's been a month and I'm still waiting for the hematologist to call with an appointment time.

Trisha9054, can you call that Hema rather than wait for him to call you? Or call your doc that referred you to the hema and tell him they are not working with you to get an appointment? Can that doc switch you to another anticoagulant without the hema consult?

One of the side effects of being on blood thinners is you can bleed from anywhere. I have a brother that had his forehead bleed.. I have had blood in my stool that you could see. Had a colonoscopy that checked out great. At the time, both of us had our INR's within range. Sometimes there is just no explanation. The others are right, however, he should have it checked out.
