Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
7 months post DVT and PE.. disturbed DVT leg..
Hi all,
First of all get well soon all of you as i defnitely know what all of you have been going through just like me.
I had a knee partial menischotomy for a knee injury from the gym 7 months ago and had an unfortunate DVT in the same leg provoked by surgery which led me to Pulmonaru embolism as well and to ICU for 2 days. I m on blood thinners since then and its been really a hell tough last few months of my life. The latest doppler i had 2 weeks ago still shows residual clot according to doctor and i mite be on blood thinners for a year in total. Then the haematologist will do my detailed blood testing whether i have any other clotting disorder in my blood.
One doctor already did do some blood tests and said i have anti lupus anti coagulant positve which means i have APS (antiphopho-antilipid Syndrome) which also contributed to my DVT nd PE besides the surgery.
My questions from all those with similar experiences that how long can i expect my leg to be normal as before or atleast close to it. AS still a hell lot of disturbance in my leg especially while sitting and the leg is bending. aching, burning, irregular movements of veins and i dont know what else. i studies on internet about the post thrombotic syndrome and i wonder if i have it already. And also will these things gradually dissolve with time or i will have to live with it for the rest of life with such a disturbed leg. As it doesnt let you to do your normal activities.
Swimming or walking makes me feel better though with more blood circulation. plus i have to be careful about the knee as well as i had the knee surgery. Seems like stuck between the DEVIL AND THE DEEP SEA.
I would really love to hear some comforting words and experiences of the people around me and a rough idea after how long can i expect things to be in better and bearable condition atleast if not totally normal. As thinking of it remaining like this forever really scares me alot.
I m sorry for taking a lot of your time in advance and hope to hear from you all. AND i wish you all to heal complete and real quick as we know the real value of health when we dont have one only. Get well soon all of ya..
See you around.. Regards

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
My dvt was 10 years ago and my leg still is not exactly right but it functions well. It’s just that it’s permanently larger than my other leg. It gets red, it aches and tingles sometimes. Not always but if I sit too long or am on my feet all day. Biking is one of the exercises that was great for my leg. So maybe try that but it’s different for everyone.
I would just keep trying to be active and be mindful when you may be pushing too hard with the leg.
I wish you all also best health and best of your times and may God keep us all protected in the future.. Thanks
