Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
I've read that an SVT may sometimes occur together with a DVT. So maybe it's been there for a while. I also know that a previous DVT may predispose you to an SVT.
Talk to your hematologist or doc about what this means regarding long term warfarin.
It'll be ok.
Also, be wary of ultrasound techs ... they don't always know what they are looking at. Make sure you get the info from a doctor and be sure to ask the questions that you have. It might not be a new clot at all.
Hang in there! Get the facts before you freak out!
I agree with Toss. Get the facts to figure out if it's an old superficial clot and talk about it with your doc to figure out if you need to be concerned. No one wants to be on warfarin for life but until you know what your doctor is going to recommend, try to take a deep breath and just see what happens. And no one can make you stay on warfarin for life. It's merely a recommendation. So get all the info about your situation first and see what your doc thinks, and then you get to decide.
