Sugar has always been bad for anyone. The saying is The whiter the bread the quicker your dead.
HIgh Carb is high sugar, makes sense. People been having heart attacks for years and usually after a holiday mean when they have eaten all the highcarbs.
I mean I am surropunded by water and there is nothing cheap here unless you get it yourself, which I don't fish anymore so that is out.
Sorry about your Dad Jo, unfortunately the shrimp and lobster are very high in cholesterol for anyone. I love fish plain dolphin is wonderful and sweet, grouper is now hard to get but wonderful. I used to eat so much of it once I got a rash on my stomach and it was from too much fish! I was shocked but the Doc was right, so I quit having it for breakfast Lol and it went away.
I always watch that program The Biggest Catch where the guys are crabbing. I love that but I don't care for crab legs just stone crabs. I love to watch that, the danger is immense. But one has to wonder how long our oceans will last with this going on all over the world.
I eat a lot of chicken and I make hamburger pattys and keep them in the freezer so I just have a patty with vegies, once in awhile I use bread but try to stay away from it. And when steak is on sale I buy them and freeze them, it is always a treat to have a steak even if it is skinny.Lol
Living right on the ocean, they could go out to where the fisheries are and get lobster or crab or just about any fish for free if you know someone, which just about every one there does, or if you dont, go to the fish markets for fresh fish that is really cheap. I dont know how much exactly, Sunny, but they dont make a high living there, so everything is very cheap.
Yes, I watch the crab catchers too and it is awsome the things they go through. I dont know how they do it and the hours they put it. Now, those guys remind me of the guys on the boats where my parents used to live.
I used to get it free also from the guys on the boats that took people fishing. A smile got you a nice filet of dolphin!! Then they sorta stopped that and you could offer to buy it then they said no they were selling it all to the stores!! Most of the people went fishing for sport not to eat it so the boats make out. I miss fresh fish..I do buy it when it is cheap enough.
