I have not used IE in years. Used to need it for some sites but now people seemed to have made everything to work in Firefox etc.

Hope you like 9. And yes I did think it was still in the Beta phase, but maybe I missed something while I was in hospital............... still catching up!

IE9 is not listed in my updates. So that didn't work. Back to sq one

Bob is 9 listed on your control panel - programs?
If so you might be able to uninstall it there. IF you have Windows 7 you can shut IE down by going into control panel then programs and features and on the left hand side there is a link that says "Turn Windows features off or on". They have given the user more control over the Microsoft programs now.
Hope that you can get back to what you had - and this is something we all need to be careful of - trialling Beta programs. I know I have been that route and regretted it too.

To uninstall Internet Explorer
The following instructions apply to both Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

1.Click the Start button , type Programs and Features in the search box, and then click View installed updates in the left pane.

2.Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.

3.Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.

4.Click one of the following:

Restart now (to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer 9, and restore the previous version of Internet Explorer).

Restart later (to wait until you shut down or restart your computer).

Note
After you uninstall Internet Explorer 9 Beta, the previously installed version of Internet Explorer will be available on your computer. It is not necessary to reinstall.

IE9 is not listed anywhere that I can see, but I know I have it because everything is different. Its not listed of the programs page and its not listed under updates. Sorry if I'm a littlem thick headed, but I can't uninstall what I cant see!

I did not mean to imply thick headedness at all. I believe you .. just thought I would try to help.

To be certain you have IE9 beta, you can open IE and click HELP/INTERNET EXPLORER and it will tell you the version you are using. If it is IE9, and it is not listed as uninstallable, it is unusual. Evidently, when it was installed, something went awry and it did not get listed as uninstallable.

The advice at this point would be to install it again .. right over the current install .. with the idea being this time, it will hook properly to the uninstall list .. and then you can successfully uninstall it. Later on, when it is released as a 'final .. not BETA', you can then install it again.

But yea it says I do, Explorer 9 Beta, 256 bit, then a copyright warning.

If I try to download it again, won't it tell me I already have it? Just wondering but I will try it anyway.

It MIGHT. Dunno. If it does .. then you can wait until there is a new BETA release .. and THEN download THAT ... HOPING it will result in an uninstall.

Just so you understand .. you presently have a BETA release IE9 installed. As beta versions are 'tested', MS comes out with NEWER BETA releases. EVENTUALLY, MS considers it 'tested' and releases a FINAL.

I am hoping there is a newer BETA release available and you will be able to download it ... thereby creating an UNINSTALL option.

Where we MAY BE SCREWED is if MS wants us to UNINSTALL old Betas before installing NEWER ones.

OR

The FINAL is available .. in which case you will have a 'good' IE9 installed .. which MAY or MAY not be able to be uninstalled. I don't know if MS will make the upgrade to FINAL IE9 uninstallable or not.

A few weeks ago . when MS FIRST released a Beta IE9, I posted a warning to 'everyone' .. that it was not advisable to install a BETA product .. unfortunately, you may not have seen it.
